The Return of Tusk Gallery: A New Chapter Begins

May 29th, 2025BlogNo Comments »

After more than 25 years of bringing contemporary and international art to Australian and global audiences, Tusk Gallery is entering a new chapter. It’s a return—not to a physical gallery, but to the heart of what we’ve always done best: connecting people with art that moves them, surprises them, and brings their spaces to life.

From Carlton to Bangkok: A Brief History

Tusk Gallery has taken many forms over the decades—from intimate showrooms in Carlton North and Camberwell to larger spaces in Fitzroy, South Yarra, Kalorama, and even Kilsyth. Our reach has extended beyond Melbourne too, with a gallery presence in Bangkok and regular participation in international art fairs and exhibitions.

Along the way, we’ve worked with an eclectic and vibrant mix of artists from around the world. We’ve introduced collectors to Thai contemporary artists like Attasit Pokpong, Kitti Narod, and Dusit Pimchangthong, whose work has gone on to receive international acclaim. We’ve also showcased the richly textured thread-paintings of John Martono from Bandung, Indonesia—a true original in the global art scene.

The Pandemic Shift: Closing Our Doors to Open New Ones

Like many creative businesses, the tail end of the COVID era forced us to rethink. After much reflection, we made the decision to close our physical gallery spaces. It wasn’t easy, but it was time. As seasons shift in life and business, so too must we adapt.

Since then, we’ve kept the flame burning—quietly, carefully. And now, we’re ready to bring that flame back to life in a way that fits the times: a curated, upgraded online experience.

A Reimagined TuskGallery.com.au

We’re currently rebuilding and updating our website to reflect the incredible collection we’ve curated over the past two decades. In the coming weeks and months, you’ll find:

•New artworks listed with updated prices

•Detailed artist bios and backstories

•Easy-to-navigate online purchasing

•Insights into the current and potential value of previously sold works

Whether you’re a long-time collector or discovering Tusk for the first time, the new online experience will give you access to museum-quality artworks—many of which are rare or one-of-a-kind—from the comfort of your home.

What’s Still to Come?

Our passion for beautiful, thought-provoking art hasn’t dimmed. In fact, it’s clearer than ever. We’ll also be sharing blog updates about:

•New artists we’re discovering

•The stories behind some of our favourite artworks

•Where some of our collectors are now and what they’re collecting

•Tips for starting or expanding your own collection

This blog is the first of many—part of a renewed effort to stay connected with you, our community.
