It’s October 2016. Spring is bringing an optimism that wasn’t there throughout winter. We are looking for a full time staff member for our Camberwell Gallery. The most important quality we are looking for is the ability to genuinely connect with people, to be honestly interested in others and to make people feel comfortable, relaxed and important. The next quality we are looking for is a love of art and a desire and ability to help artists get their work onto people’s walls, to do this you’ll need to be able to guide your clients through all of the obstacles that may “rear their ugly heads” and actually close sales. You will need to have a pretty good ability with computers, basic website and social media skills…..we can help you here but the more you know the better. You’ll need to have a good sense of design because one of your tasks will be to design custom framing PLUS you must be willing to learn. You’ll need to be willing to develop relationships with our artists and help us look after their best interests as well as always being on the look out for new art.You also need to be able to hang the gallery so it’s always looking professional. We know how easy it is to become complacent about a space but we cannot ever afford to do this in the Gallery.Most of the action happens on the weekend so there will need to be a willingness to work on Saturdays and Sundays. We will be flexible if you have special engagements but unfortunately you will need to do most weekends. last but not least….there will be times when you are on your own in the Gallery so you’ll need to be able to function on your own when this is the case. I’m sure that there are lot’s more qualities that we are looking for but that’s enough for now.
