Kym is an award-winning painter and art teacher who lives in S. E. Queensland. She graduated in Fine Arts at the Brisbane College of Art in 1975, and worked as a teacher in Queensland High Schools until 2010. Since 2005, she has focussed on experimentation with mixed media including acrylics, drawing materials, collage and more recently, wax and oils. Her work has evolved rapidly as a result. Her paintings are held in private collections in Australia and USA, and in several Queensland Public Collections. She was the WINNER of the 2014 Kenilworth Painting Prize, and a FINALIST in the 2012 and 2013 Kenilworth Painting Prize; Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award, 2014; Moreton Bay Art Awards, 2012 and 2014; Noosa Art Award, 2014; Lethbridge Small Scale Art Awards, 2013 and the WINNER of the $5000 Andrew Fisher Portrait Prize, 2014.
